Step 1: Extract the tooth
If there is a tooth in the space planned for the implant, the tooth will be removed, taking care to preserve as much of the buccal plate and surrounding bone as possible
Step 2: Initial incision
A small cut is done where the implant will be placed.
The cut is necessary in order to gain access to the tooth socket where your missing teeth used to be
Step 3: Cutting and Drilling
The dentist will drill into the bone
Metal implant or post itself is placed into the hole in your bone
The implant is then covered by stitching the gums and allow it to heal
Step 4: Healing period and the second procedure
After three to six months the healing will be complete
The second part of the procedure can take place when the healing is complete
The dentist will make a new cut to expose the implant
A healing cap or collar is screwed atop the stud
Step 5: Healing cap removal
After a few weeks, the healing cap is taken off, after the surrounding gum tissue is healed
Step 6: Abutment and crown placement
The abutment is put into place
The abutment prevents dislodged of the crown due to biting forces
The crown is placed
Do not smoke or drink alcohol for at least 3 days before your veneers treatment.
Brush and floss properly before your treatment and keep good oral hygiene the week before your treatment.
The treatment is quick and there are no directions that should be considered, except otherwise prescribed by the dentist
You can resume normal activities right after the procedure
